America is home to an amazing array of turtles and tortoises. Like other species around the world, many of them are threatened and at risk of disappearing forever. This piece is the first in a series that focus intimately on these animals.
The Story: Inspired by one of my trips to eastern Michigan, this painting was created in the hopes of illuminating the memories of early spring when the first rays of sunshine peak through the coniferous forests and shed bits of light onto the banks of sandy bottomed streams. Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris) and the shy Redback Salamander (Plethodon cinereus) are depicted along with the favorited Wood Turtle (Glyptemys insculpta).
This Canvas Giclee is printed on Satin Canvas and is a 1:1 print of an original oil painting created on panel. Each print is inspected, signed, numbered and packed by the artist. This painting's edition is only 200 Limited Edition Prints and 20 Canvas Giclees.
